Wood Dust
Regulated Chemical Presence Warnings
We want to help our customers by making compliance easy and effective. Please use the form and resources below.
California's Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986, also called Proposition 65, requires that no person in the course of doing business shall knowingly and intentionally expose any individual to certain chemicals, listed as causing cancer or reproductive toxicity, without first giving clear and reasonable warning to such individual. Through this notification sent to authorized agents of our customers, as well as on-invoice warnings for sales of raw wood in bulk form, Clarke Veneers and Plywood is fulfilling our legal responsibility to provide warning, and offering resources to our customers that may be of help in complying with this regulation. You, in turn, are required to carry forward the notification chain, if any products you produce or sell may reach end users in the State of California.
Wood products can expose individuals to wood dust, a substance known to the State of California to cause cancer. Additionally, composite wood products made using formaldehyde-based glue can expose individuals to formaldehyde, which is known to the State of California to cause cancer.
To clearly and reasonably warn end users, Clarke Veneers and Plywood recommends the following language be prominently posted on or alongside applicable products, in compliance with the specific requirements of California law:
